Information Collection and Use
It is the Company’s policy to respect the privacy
of its users of the online education services and of visitors to the
Company’s Web sites and portals. These Sites may require certain
information from users and visitors during the registration process, such
as name, institution or organization name, and email address. In addition,
the Company collects information when you navigate through the Sites and
complete course sections, tests and surveys, and enter contests. Outside
The Classroom collects two main types of information through its Web sites
and online services:
- Standard Web server/visitor traffic information commonly referred to
as “aggregate information,” regarding overall Web site traffic patterns.
Normally, Web servers collect this type of basic information automatically
as part of their Web log processes.
- Personal or “individually identifiable” information you provide to us when participating in
one of our online courses or to process information requests.
Aggregate Information
Like almost all Web sites, our Sites automatically track some general, but not personal information about where people go on our Sites. We may also maintain records of the movements of visitors anonymously. For example, we may see and record the fact that a visitor has moved from the home page to the survey page without explicitly disclosing the identity of that visitor. That tracking helps us improve the design and content of our Site to provide better information and service.
As with many Web sites, your IP number is visible to us when you visit our Sites. An IP address is a number automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are connected to the Internet. The Company will only use IP addresses when you sign up for the services or to help diagnose problems with our server.
Individually Identifiable
- Corporate Web Site
In general, we ask visitors for personal data in order to
respond to a visitor’s requests for information. The Company may ask
visitors to provide demographic or personal preference data. If visitors
elect to provide such data, we may use it to analyze the characteristics
of visitors to our Web site. We aggregate information on what pages
visitors have accessed and other information volunteered by the visitor,
such as survey or contact information.
For individuals who
register and take our E-commerce online course through our
www.outsidetheclassroom.com Web site, the Company collects additional
information including credit card information, registration information,
survey data and test results. This information is used in the same
manner as for our other online service users, as described in the
following paragraphs. Note: We do not store any credit card information
on our servers.
- Online Services
The Company collects specific data for users of our
services, including registration information, survey data, and test
results. The Company uses such information to customize the specific
information to better meet users’ needs and to provide technical
support. The Company shares only the individuals’ progress through the
course and test results with the users’ institution or organization.
Student users should be aware that no information
will be provided to the user's institution or organization other than:
1) the fact the user completed the course; 2) the user’s progress
through the course; 3) the user’s Final Exam score; 4) the user’s email
address; and 5) any additional aggregate or blinded data the user's
institution or organization may request.
- Our Commitment To Children’s Privacy
Outside The Classroom
maintains Web sites, which may request information from children under
13 years old. Protecting the privacy of the young is especially
important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at
our Web site from those we actually know are under 13. Written parental
permission submitted to the institution’s administrator is required for
anyone under 13 who wishes to use our online course.
The Web sites are specifically designed to provide
an alcohol prevention course for the high school and youth population.
The sites are located at http://highschool.alcoholedu.com and
http://youth.alcoholedu.com/. The information collected is name
(optional), birth month and year, username, password, survey data (with
parental consent in AlcoholEdu for High School) and test results.
Parents and students should be aware that the only individual data
shared with the user’s institution or organization is the user’s
progress through the course and test results.
- Survey/Test Data
From time to time, the Company may share with third
parties, including the users’ institution or organization, aggregate
information about users of the service, such as how many of our users
are men. Any survey or test data provided by users will be blinded
before provided to your institution or organization or any other third
party. "Blinded" means that the Company will extract all personally
identifiable information from the data, including names, student email
addresses, login IDs, etc.
The Company will never sell, barter or trade any
personal information obtained from you unless: 1) you provide us with
your consent to do so or 2) the Company is required to disclose
information to respond to a subpoena, court order or other legal
process.
Alcohol InnerviewTM
Alcohol InnerviewTM does not store any identifiable information that you provide. This
information is meant for your purposes only, and will not be aggregated or used by anyone
except yourself in any way. Student users of Alcohol InnerviewTM should be aware that no
information will be provided to the user's institution or organization, and that the

or your administrator. Your IP number is not visible to us when you use
